Eastern City Blues are a 5 piece band whose influences range from the Allman Brothers to ZZ Top and everyone one in between. Their music is dynamic and melodic and draws heavily on songs that groove and swing, perfect for dancing and entertaining the most discerning blues aficionado.
From the laid back JJ Cale, the folk stylings of Neil Young and Van Morrison, the late 60’s UK driven blues sound and sweet Chicago soul into the tight groove driven southern rock bands of the 70’s. ECB, with their twin guitar, Hammond lineup can move from barn storming rockers back to sweet soul gospel.
Sets are designed for the venue, clientele and occasion to ensure the night is always an event.
ECB can supply professional sound, lighting and all equipment to take the worry away from the venue depending on the requirements.
Members of ECB:
Tim Ireland: vocals and guitar
25 year veteran of Melbourne’s original and blues scene, Tim’s vocal stylings range from the soulful to the whiskey soaked roar evoking the blues and gospel singers of the past. Improvisation, fire and melody in his guitar work has Tim in demand as a session and guest musician in the local blues scene and abroad and he performs constantly in acoustic and electric settings at venues and festivals all over Australia.
Don Pollard: Slide/Lead guitar
30 years of studying guitar, touring and playing in original and blues bands around the globe, D has melded the styles of Elmore James and Duane Allman into a sound that enraptures audiences and takes them way down south, deep into the blues. From Freebird to the Whipping Post, guitar players and music lovers love to watch D tear it up on the Les Paul.
Nick Cresswell: Hammond/Electric piano
A multi-instrumentalist, Nick is the musical encyclopaedia and heart of ECB, channeling The Band’s Garth Hudson, Chuck Leavell and Leon Russel. Nick melds these legends into a groove laden, melodic and revivalist gospel driven adventure of exceptional sonic proportion. An accomplished vocalist and songwriter who lives and breathes soul music and the blues, Nick has travelled the world meeting and following the best to bring an unparalleled dynamic colour and sound to Eastern City Blues.
Pete Lawrence: Bass
Pete was born playing bass, it’s what he does. Western, Swing and Jump Blues, Rockabilly, Rock and Grunge, Pete’s bass playing is way down deep in the bottom end, driving the band and maintaining a rock solid anchor for ECBs sonic explorations. Driven by the quest for tone, Pete rounds out out harmonic spectrum and gets the crowd on their feet stomping in time and swinging to the groove.
Zoltan Almady: Drums and percussion.
